All natural/ aluminum free deodorants.

I’ve been on the hunt for a great natural deodorant for a while now. In the past, I’ve tried some drugstore brands but found they were ineffective and disappointing at best. The way I look at it, trial and error is kind of the only way to go when it comes to these products. Every body is different and what works for one person may not work for another. That being said, a little information never goes astray and if you are looking to invest in some quality pit stick, I’d rather point you in the right direction rather than the wrong one.

I’ll start with a drugstore brand. Based on some other instagram influencers recommendations, I went ahead and ordered a couple of different brands online and it was nice to have them delivered right to my door. But to keep things fair, I didn’t want to start with a boujee brand and have all of the others fail by comparison. I tried: Soft and Dri: aluminum free, Tom’s of Maine, Tarte: Clean Queen, Primally Pure and Native.

Ok. So this one was awful. The smell is WAY STRONG…almost unbearable. I purchased the Sparkling Citrus scent from a local drugstore and it smells nothing like citrus. It reminded me of scented dryer sheets. Not only was the smell overwhelming, it was the least effective of the bunch. It feels very wet going on (even though it’s a solid) and I found that after a few days of trying it, I developed a rash around the outsides of my underarms. It was not the brand for me. If you have any sensitivity to scent, or have sensitive skin on your underarms, I would stay far, far away from this one. I didn’t even test this one at the gym because it was far too irritating to investigate. Ugh.

Tom’s of Maine

This brand is all natural, which means it has no aluminum, no petrochemicals, no parabens, and no artificial fragrances or preservatives. Woot, woot! It’s been clinically proven to provide 24-hour odor protection using odor-fighting hops and odor-trapping zinc, which is always a good thing. This brand is very transparent in its ingredients, shares 10% of its product sales with nonprofit organizations working to support health, education and nature and uses sustainable business practices. I give this deodorant a 6 out of 10. It’s definitely better than the Soft & dri and the scents are much more subtle (I tried the lavender…I don’t have a pic though, sorry) and it didn’t cause any irritation. The stick does say 24 hour protection and that’s where this brand loses points, IMO. It didn’t give me great protection (a couple of hours max), I didn’t trust it at the gym and it was incredibly sticky. So sticky in fact that it attracted any kind of lint which is not a great look. I give it a ‘meh’.

Native

Rating: ****

Pricing: $$$

This brand is hand poured out of San Fran and came highly recommended in natural deodorant land. Native doesn’t use aluminum, parabens or sulfates in any of their products. They also never test on animals, except humans (who volunteer). Also: FREE SHIPPING! You can even sign up for a subscription and have your products delivered to your door on the reg. WINNING! I purchased their coconut and vanilla (their most popular scent) and an unscented. I really liked the coconut and vanilla scent and the protection Native deodorant provides. It was even great at the gym! The only downside to their deodorant is that it stains your clothes. It is very oily and cake-y and it would build up on my clothing. I persisted and used up both sticks and ruined a few shirts in the process. Bummer.

Tarte: Clean Queen Vegan Deodorant

I love Tarte cosmetics. I DO NOT love this deodorant. It was the worst one by far. I think maybe it was because it’s quite expensive and I had high hopes because their creaseless concealer is the TITS (especially on this 30 something face). This deodorant is an aluminum and alcohol-free natural deodorant that’s non-irritating & chock full of natural odor neutralizers and conditioners for a healthy, clean feel without harsh chemicals…but it LIES. Its packaging it bright and cute with its chevron pattern and its scent is light and floral. I totally bought in to it, thinking it would be a great addition to my self-care routine…but it lasts for one to two hours…Tops. Oh, and wearing it to the gym? My worst nightmare. I could smell myself the entire workout and was fully paranoid that others could too. Sorrrrrryyyy. This one gets a big ol’ F from me.

Primally Pure

Ok. So this deodorant knocked it OUT OF THE PARK. With their hashtag #natureissmarterthanscience , PP prides themselves on the use of non-toxic, organic ingredients in their products. Their small batch handcrafting and selective sourcing of ingredients give these products a spa-like vibe so you really feel like a million bucks every time you use them! Produced out to SoCal, PP believes in holistically caring for the skin and self with natural products created and curated with simplicity, integrity and purity. PP offers a subscription service as well that, once logged in, you can swap scents, change the frequency or skip an order if need be! Although a little on the pricier side at 16$ US per 2.5 oz stick + shipping , a little goes a LONG way. Just two swipes per underarm, let the product warm up and absorb into the skin and you’re good to go. I purchased my two sticks 2 months ago and I’m just now nearing the end of the first one. I purchased two different scents: Blue Tansy and Charcoal. I loved both but the charcoal came out on top for me. It has a lovely eucalyptus and peppermint scent that isn’t overpowering. It can withstand an insane workout or a stressful interview or meeting and gives all day protection all without staining your clothing! I have legit worked out multiple times (because ya know your girl likes a good workout or 3…amirite?!) in a day wearing this stuff and it kept on going and going. I can’t say enough great things about this brand. Not only do they carry the best natural deodorants, they also have fancy face serums, salt soaks, soaps, cleansers, shampoos and even products for men and baby.

I absolutely LOVE to promote products i believe in and Primally Pure is definitely one of my top picks! I love PP so much so that I’ve recently become part of their influencer program! If you’d like to purchase any of their products, you can use my code : ‘sincerelyles15’ and get 15% off your entire first purchase with PP for the rest of the month of March! (It’s usually 10% BTW, so act fast! Lol) How awesome is that?

I hope this was post was helpful! Leave a comment or go follow me over on IG at @sincerely_les  as I’m sure to post some stories in the upcoming couple of days featuring PP!

Hope your Monday is amazing!

Sincerely,

Les xo
